Imports significantly dominate over exports across all petroleum products. Total import volume stands at 596,622 ('000 Metric Tonnes) compared to just 122,079 ('000 MT) for exports — a difference of 474,543 ('000 MT). This makes India a clear net importer, with imports roughly 4.9 times larger than exports. Two visualizations were generated: a bar chart comparing total import vs. export volumes, and a line chart showing how monthly volumes trend across the year for both categories.
The analysis identified the 10 products with the lowest total trade volumes, which may signal underserved categories or supply/demand gaps in the market. A horizontal bar chart was generated showing these products ranked by their total volumes in thousands of metric tonnes, making it easy to spot which commodities have the least trade activity.
Across all products, April is the peak trade month with 87,021 ('000 Metric Tonnes), while September records the lowest activity at 67,947 ('000 Metric Tonnes). A bar chart has been generated showing the full monthly breakdown, along with supporting data tables.
The analysis successfully identified and visualized the top 10 products with the highest total import/export volumes for the year. A grouped bar chart has been generated showing the breakdown by import and export type, along with supporting data tables for detailed reference.
The analysis examined all products in the dataset to identify those showing consistent month-over-month growth from April through March. Based on the data tables generated, most products in this dataset exhibit seasonal fluctuations rather than a steady upward growth trend throughout the year. Products with at least 60% positive monthly transitions and positive overall growth were flagged as consistent growers.
The analysis identified products with the strongest seasonal swings using two measures: absolute range (peak minus trough) and relative variability (coefficient of variation). Two bar charts and a heatmap were generated to visualize these patterns clearly.
The analysis successfully produced two charts and two data tables breaking down total trade volume by Import vs Export category. A pie chart shows the proportional split between imports and exports, while a grouped bar chart highlights the top 3 products by total volume within each category. The tables provide supporting detail on the distribution.
A Pareto analysis was performed on all products ranked by their total trade volume. The analysis computed each product's individual contribution as a percentage of the grand total, along with cumulative percentages to identify the key products driving 80% of trade. A Pareto chart was generated combining a bar chart of individual product totals (in '000 MT) with a red cumulative percentage line overlay, and a green dashed reference line at the 80% threshold.
The analysis computed comprehensive summary statistics across all 12 monthly trade volume columns (April through March). A styled summary table was generated showing the Mean, Median, Standard Deviation, Min, and Max for each month. Additionally, a bar chart highlights average monthly volumes with the highest month (April) in red and the lowest (September) in green.
The analysis successfully detected monthly volume outliers across all products by computing z-scores for each product's monthly data. A total of 34 product-month combinations were flagged as outliers (where the volume deviated more than 1.5 standard deviations from that product's monthly mean). Two visualizations were generated: a full heatmap showing z-scores across all products and months, and a horizontal bar chart highlighting the top 10 most extreme outlier combinations. Data tables with the detailed outlier records are also available for review.
