An 8-Year Deep Dive into the World's Largest Product Discovery Platform If you've ever wondered what separates a viral Product Hunt launch from one that…

Yes, products featured as Product of the Day receive significantly more upvotes than non-featured products. The difference is both statistically significant and practically meaningful. Featured products average 620 upvotes compared to just 119 for non-featured products — that's over 5 times more engagement.

The analysis shows how product launches have trended over the years based on release dates. A line chart has been generated displaying the number of product launches by year from 2014 to 2021, along with a data table showing the yearly breakdown. While there was a minor error in generating the complete summary statistics, the visualization and core data were successfully created.

The analysis identified the top hunters who have discovered the most successful products based on total upvotes. A visualization was generated showing the top 15 hunters ranked by the cumulative upvotes of products they've discovered, along with details about how many products each hunter found and their average upvotes per product.

I've analyzed the products with the highest upvotes on Product Hunt and created a visualization showing the top 10 products ranked by their upvote counts. The bar chart displays each product's name along with their upvote totals, color-coded by popularity. While there was a minor technical issue extracting the detailed category breakdown in the summary, the visualization and data table successfully capture the top-performing products.

For featured products on Product Hunt, there's a clear relationship between product ranking and upvotes. The analysis of 14,622 featured products shows a correlation of -0.36, meaning products with better rankings (lower numbers like 1) tend to receive significantly more upvotes. This makes intuitive sense - products that get more community support through upvotes earn higher (numerically lower) rankings.

Based on the analysis, products with descriptions do appear to receive more upvotes than those without. The visualization compares both average and median upvotes between the two groups, showing a clear difference in engagement levels.

I found 2,648 products that achieved the 1 product ranking on Product Hunt. These top-ranked products have impressive engagement, averaging 1,079 upvotes with a median of 856 upvotes. The highest-performing 1 product received an outstanding 21,798 upvotes.

The distribution of upvotes across 76,822 products shows that most products receive relatively modest engagement, with a median of 104 upvotes. However, the distribution is heavily skewed right, with the average (214.5) being much higher than the median due to some viral products reaching up to 21,798 upvotes. Based on this analysis, a product with 246 or more upvotes is considered successful as it places in the top 25% of all products.

The analysis successfully identified the most saturated category tags by product launches. A horizontal bar chart was created showing the top 20 category tags ranked by the number of product launches. While there was a minor error in generating the final text summary, the visualization and data table were successfully created to show you which categories have the most product activity.

Hunters also appear as makers quite frequently! Out of 76,800+ products analyzed, hunters are also listed as makers in about 33,400 cases, which represents 43.5% of all products. This means nearly half of the time, the person who hunted (submitted) a product to Product Hunt is also one of its creators.

The dataset contains 8 years of data, covering the period from 2014 to 2021. This gives you a solid historical view of product releases over nearly a decade.
